For centuries Yoga has been used for its physical and emotional benefits. Yoga can help strengthen the body and lengthen the tissues within the body helping us to stay active and healthy throughout life. Yoga can bring the emotional benefit of allowing us to release any emotions that no longer serve us and encourage us to be fully present and in the moment. Yoga can also be a phenomenal tool for self growth and connection.
Whatever your reasons for enjoying a practice of yoga, the benefits are endless.
All classes focus on Yin and Restorative Yoga.
Yin and Restorative Yoga allow the body to release tightness on its own as we relax into a posture.
Yin Yoga is all about stretching the connective tissue in a gentle and grounded way allowing the stretch to go deep into the body to clear any stagnation and allow energy flow to improve. Asanas are held for a prolonged length of time (3 to 8 mins) to allow the body to release and the connective tissue to lengthen. This form of Yoga is amazing for chronic aches and pains, stuck emotions and opening the joints so is especially good for arthritis, ms, fibromyalgia and an array of other conditions and problems within the joints and fascia.
Each session also includes Restorative Yoga asanas where we allow the mind and nervous system to relax. Each asana is held for 5 mins or more to allow us to really relax into them...the body is supported throughout with cushions and bolsters allowing the body to release and a sense of peace and ease to be obtained.
Each session also features a savasana at the end which is a mindful guided meditation encouraging the mind to quiet and empty as we allow thoughts and feelings to float by. The meditation allows us to intergrate that changes that have occurred in the body during practice and move fully into a sense of peace and connection and go about our day or evening in a peaceful and relaxed state.
